cast
Cast. So I had a cast about a year or so ago, then got rid of it because I was putting ridiculous people on it like, "Jeremy - my favorite salesclerk at Barnes and Noble and the one I flirt with the most". So yeah, that needed to go. But it's back now, to help you with Kate, Katelynn, Katie and all the other K names I know.Family
Mum: I call her Mum because I like to pretend I'm British (and I am! - 2nd generation). Anyway, I spend a lot of time with her, sometimes unintentionally. It's quite alright though, I get along with her well and we generally have a fun time together no matter what we're doing. She takes really good care of me and I'm a bit spoiled because of her.
Dad: Ahem. Not the greatest relationship. I think the problem is we're very similar and so we clash - a lot. Recently I attended a therapy session with him, to help with our "clashing" but repairing our relationship is going to take a lot of time and effort. I'd rather put it off to the side and so far that's what we do. Polite coversation is what we're trying to sustain and for now that's good enough for me.
André: My 12 year old brother. He's usually pretty fun to have around but ever since I got back from Britain I've noticed he's started acting like a pre-teen. Ghastly. I had fun playing with him when I was little and I still love him very much but I can see exactly what he's going to be like in the following years and all I can say is I'm so glad I'm going to be out of the house!
Alyssa: My 21 year old cousin whom I idolized when I was in elementry school. She lives up north in a small town and she's a wonderful artist who's currently going to a local community college. Being my cousin I've known her all my life and even if we haven't seen each other for 2 years, an hour after meeting we'll be best friends again, like there had been no break between us.
Momo: My maternal grandma whom I love with all my heart. She is the sweetest, greatest lady ever. I go to see her many times during the year (she lives in L.A) and each time I am so excited to go. She give me a sense of family as cheesy as that sounds and a sense of belonging to someting greater than just me. She also guides my life, I always think of her when I do something she'd be proud of or when I'm doing something I really shouldn't - I think about how she would react if she found out. She's wonderful, wonderful lady.
Friends
Alivia: My bestest friend in the whole world. I'll usually refer to her in this diary as my best friend. I've been friends with her since the 4th grade and it's been the perfect idyllic best girlfriend relationship that you see in movies. Sadly, in 7th grade she moved down south, to L.A. but we still keep in touch (at least 3 phonecalls a week and I see her at least twice a year). Next year we'll both be going to college in Portland, so I'm very excited about that. I can tell her anything and I trust/love her so much - plus we have the greatest time when we're together.
Nina: She's a recent addition to my close friends (since 9th grade) but I am so glad I became friends with her. She's a wonderful "free spirit", full of love for the revolutionary figure Che and Austen's Mr. Darcy. A bit melodramatic which can annoy me at times, I'm the complete opposite, but usually we get along great and I can always count on her to have the greatest outfits and go shopping with me. And swoon over both Mr. Darcy and Mark Darcy of course! Currently she's spending 4 months in Honduras with her birth family before she goes off to college.
Tegan: The "responsible" one of the group although she has the worst sense of direction ever. For a long time she was our "driver", the only one with a license and a card. She has more value than that of course, she's amazingly smart (actually all of my friends are, and I'm not just saying that) and we can always count on her to have totally wild things to say when she knows adults aren't around and her responsible image won't be ruined! She'll be going to UCLA in the fall and I'm so excited to go and visit her.
Katie: I trust Katie with my life - she's the only one I can say that about. She's truly a unique individual. She's gone through a lot of troubles in her life but she's always two steps ahead of you. Extremely funny, intelligent and clever. I'm going to keep in touch with her for the rest of my life, we can always depend on each other for anything, no matter what. Oh yes, she and I share the same tastes in movies so 75% of movies I see at the theatre, I see with her. And that's basically my weekends during the school year. During the week we go off campus every lunch period for iced lattes at our favorite coffeehouse.
Katelynn: Another very best friend, although I think we've drifted apart emotionally in the last few years. She's had a lot of crap issues with boys and unfortunately she's been burned in the past. I do love the relationship I have with her though, I don't think we've ever said a kind word in seriousness, we tease each other constantly. She knows I love her though.
Others/Temporary Characters (this is where Jeremy was placed when I first had a cast)
Mr. B, Him, the guy I TA for, B, my sophomore English teacher: He's all those and more. I can't say I have a weird relationship with him because we don't really have one, but I guess I can say we interact in an offbeat, flirty way. Although he's not in family or friends (because he isn't either, although I talk about him more than I do my friends sometimes) he's first in "Others" because he's just that kind of guy. I respect him enormously and I'm so grateful he let me into his life, even if it was only for a few hours a day. No matter if I never see him again, he's influenced my whole high school experience and life during these years.
